Don't spend money on expensive conditioners, use leftover beer instead. Dilute the beer with water, then use it to give your hair a final rinse. It'll leave your hair shiny, with loads of volume. Honest! Catherine Ryan, Cirencester

Two shopping dilemmas solved in one go - if you're sick of juggling a "just in case" umbrella around while your carrier bags dig into your hands, slip the umbrella through the handles to carry. It's comfortable and distributes the weight evenly.

Of course, if it rains, you're back to square one!!

Instead of buying expensive propagators to bring on seedlings I used two old strawberry containers they do a great job and don't cost anything.
