An allergy is when your body responds to something it believes to be harmful, even if it is not. One in three people in the UK suffers from an allergy at some time in their lives. Pets are one of the more common triggers, along with pollen and types of food. It’s not the pet’s fur that causes the reaction, it’s exposure to flakes of their dead skin, saliva and dried urine. Rehoming your pet would solve the problem, but if you can’t bear to do that, keep them off beds and wash and groom them regularly.
