I am posting this to get other peoples opinions.... Should women who are overweight because of overeating be allowed to have treatments such as IVF on the NHS? In my humble opinion i think that anyone who chooses to be overweight (and in the majority of cases,it IS a choice, they just over eat) should not be allowed to have IVF on the NHS. As there are so many women out there who want a child badly enough to stop over eating and actually lose the weight,i dont see why we should waste the money on people who cant be bothered to help themselves. Chances are they are unable to concieve BECAUSE of their size....im interested to see other peoples opinions on this topic.

There are lots of things that you could have this debate on, eg) whether an alcoholic should be entitled to a liver transplant, or whether someone with smoking-related cancer should be entitled to treatment, or even if someone who catches an STI through unprotected sex should be allowed treatment on the NHS...A point to think about is...Alot of people comfort eat because they are unhappy, maybe if some people were given the chance to have a much longed for child it may break the cycle of unhappiness. I dont think anyone has the right to question if people 'deserve' help concieving.
